About Us

Our Mission

Sylvania Community Church takes its inspiration from Jeremiah 31:3 "...I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore I have drawn you with lovingkindness."

Why We Do What We Do

The Word of God, who is the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort, will be shared in a way that enables you to see just how much God cares for you.  We want you to be refreshed after your visit with us where our prayer is that you will find love and acceptance.

Who We Are

We are a group of believers – united together to celebrate our God and His love for us that has been demonstrated through His Son, Jesus Christ and to make Him known in our community and throughout the world.  Our denomination is The Christian and Missionary Alliance.

Our heartbeat is to know Jesus as our:

· Savior Acts 4:12; Sanctifier 1 Corinthians 1:30;

· Healer James 5:15; Coming King Acts 1:11

Our Core Values

Lost people matter to God.  He wants them found.

"For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."  -Luke 19:10

Prayer is the primary work of the People of God.

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."  -Philippians 4:6-7

Everything we have belongs to God.  We are His stewards.

"But who am I and who are my people that we should be able to offer as generously as this?  For all things come from You, and from Your hand we have given You."  -1 Chronicles 29:14

Knowing and obeying God's Word is fundamental to all true success.

"This book of law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success."  -Joshua 1:8

Completing the Great Commission will require the mobilization of every fully devoted disciple.

"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, teching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."  -Matthew 29:19

Without the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, we can accomplish nothing.

"And my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power so that you faith would not rest on the wisdom of men but of the power of God."

-1 Corinthians 2:4-5

Achieving God's purposes means taking faith-filled risks.  This always involves change.

"And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him."  -Hebrews 11:6
